- Density-polarization functional theory: polarization
- Second quantization, field operators for many-body systems
- Green's functions: zero temperature, finite temperature
- Applications: e-e interaction; el-ph interaction

- Hartree-Fock theory. Relation to DFT. Mean field theory

Prerequisites: PHY 240AB
Materials: Several handouts, drawn from background material
that the student will be encouraged to delve into. Most of these will
involve topics that are not covered (or covered well) in texts.
