Content of the three-quarter series:
- Magnetism: atoms.
- Magnetism: ions in solids.
- Magnetism and electronic structure: susceptibility, Stoner theory.
- Second Quantization representation for treating interactions.
- Hartree-Fock theory.
Prerequisites: PHY 240AB
Materials: Many handouts, drawn from background material
that the student will be encouraged to delve into. Most of these will
involve topics that are not covered (or covered well) in texts.
